Before upgrading to Windows 7 or 8, we recommend you download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your PC is ready for Windows 7 or 8. It scans your hardware, devices, and installed programs for known compatibility issues, gives you guidance on how to resolve potential issues found, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.
Some of your software on Windows XP does not work on Windows 7 such as Microsoft Outlook Express and Office, so you may need to download newer versions or alternative software.
If you want to keep Windows XP because of compatibility issues, we recommend you scan your hard drive, remove all viruses and malware, update Windows system files, and stay away from internet. One of our laptop has Windows XP and we use a USB data stick to transfer data.
